OER
Benefits Students

OER displays the ability to create, and utilize high quality, relevant and up to date learning materials. Allowing the adaptation of materials from multiple sources allows students to be active participants in the education process. OER provides institutions, educators, and students access to low or no cost materials while still allowing all areas of necessary instruction to be covered.

OER benefits students in complex and diverse ways. OER materials are freely accessible and in the public domain. These materials allow students to utilize multiple formats for learning purposes, and caters to every way a student learns.

By utilizing OER resources, a student is able to gain a multifaceted understanding of resources and information presented to them in the classroom. Through this process students are also able to work on enhancing and adapting the information for a more in-depth understanding of their lessons.

The resources utilized by students in OER courses include; textbooks, articles, wikis, online lectures, government websites, and course materials from other institutions.
